چکیده

A Gram-positive bacterium that inhibits several root-rot pathogens was isolated from alder forest soil on the Oregon coast. This organism, similar to Bacillus cereus, produces in culture media a heat-stable, broad-spectrum antibiotic which inhibits growth of four important Northwest conifer root disease fungi: Phellinus weirii (Murr.) Gilbertson, Fomes annosus (Fr.) Cke., Armillariella mellea (Fr.) Karst., and Phytophthora cinnamomi Rands.

Phytophthora cinnamomi and other fine root pathogens in north temperate pine forests.

A number of fine root pathogens, including Phytophthora cinnamomi, Pythium ultimum var. ultimum, Pythium undulatum, Pythium violae, Fusarium sp., and two incompletely identified Verticillium species, were isolated from soils taken from under Scots pine trees at five sites in north Scotland, including semi-natural forests and plantations. At least two root pathogens were recovered from each fore...

Management of Phytophthora Root and Runner Rot in Cranberry

Phytophthora is a genus of plant pathogens, many species of which live in water or soil. The name means “plant destroyer” in Greek. Phytophthora species are common pathogens in agricultural systems, especially in those where the crop is irrigated with surface or recycled water. In cranberry culture, the most troublesome species is P. cinnamomi, the cinnamon fungus. This pathogen causes a very c...

Antagonistic Activities of Trichoderma spp. on Phytophthora Root Rot of Sugar Beet

Trichoderma species are among important antagonists of plant pathogenic fungi. The main purpose of this study was to evaluate the biocontrol potential of native Trichoderma spp. isolates from sugar beet fields against Phytophthora drechsleri and P. cryptogea, the causal agents of Phytophthora root rot of sugar beet. During 2007–08, 85 isolates of Trichoderma spp. from sugar beet fields in eight...

Survival of plant pathogens in static piles of ground green waste.

Ground green waste is used as mulch in ornamental landscapes and for tree crops such as avocados. Survival of Armillaria mellea, Phytophthora cinnamomi, Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, and Tylenchulus semipenetrans was assessed for 8 weeks within unturned piles of either recently ground or partially composted green waste. S. sclerotiorum survived at the pile surface and at 10, 30, and 100 cm within t...

IN VITRO ANTAGONISTIC EFFECTS OF TRICHODERMA SPP. ON SEVERAL SOILBORNE PLANT PATHOGENIC FUNGI

In vitro studies with Trichoderma spp., soil-borne fungal antagonists, demonstrated that a number of isolates produced volatile and non-volatile metabolites capable of inhibiting the growth and sporulation of several soil-borne plant pathogenic fungi. Microscopic observations showed that T. harzianm and T. viride, isolated from soil samples from Ahwaz and Karaj, adversely affected the myce...
